Dillingham Air Field

If you want to practice walking 556 meters in under 5 km, just hike the Kealia trail starting on the mauka side of the Dillingham Airfield.

Joan at the start of the Kealia trail

The trail itself is challenged by rock outcroppings that you should be sure you pay attention to.

At times the trail surface becomes less challenging, but, not less steep.

Our packs were filled with water, weights and towels to bring their weight to 10 pounds. As the month progresses we will increase weight.

We know the first few days of hiking along the Camino Norte are very challenging as to steepness of grade and distance to the next overnight. We have two months to toughen up the legs and mind. Why not be in Hawaii. Tonight a Parade and Fireworks on the beach.
